Mary A. Smith, 64 of Bloomington, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 6, 2018 at her sister’s home, Bloomington.

Mary’s service will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 12noon at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington. Following the service burial will be at Blooming Grove Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be held from 10-12pm at the funeral home on Saturday.

The family has suggested for memorials to be made to the American Lung Association, American Cancer Society or Humane Society of Central Illinois.

Beck Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mary was born on October 21, 1953 in Bloomington. She is the daughter of Charles and Dorothy Eddy Lake. She married Gary L. Smith on September 27, 2013 in Bloomington. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2017.

She is survived by her children; Alicia (Mike Simpsen) Smith and Gary A. (Marie Murphy) Smith both of Bloomington, her grandchildren; Zackare, Dalton, Ethan, Tessa and Connor, a great granddaughter, Astella and her sisters and brother, Jane Erbe, Nancy (Arthur) Kerr and John Lake all of Bloomington. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Mary is a 1971 graduate of Bloomington High School and she retired from OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in 2016.

Mary was an avid reader, she loved shopping and dearly loved spending time with her family. Mary was a peaceful, kind and caring person. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and will be missed deeply.
